Donor FAQ
Q. What is WyoGives?
WyoGives, an initiative of the Wyoming Nonprofit Network, brings the state together as one community to raise money and awareness for Wyoming’s nonprofits on one day each year and one website. WyoGives.org is an easy-to-use platform where individuals can search and donate to nonprofits across the state that are making a difference in our communities every day.
Q. Who is the host of WyoGives and who is GiveGab?
WyoGives is hosted by the Wyoming Nonprofit Network, whose mission is to amplify, cultivate, and advocate for Wyoming’s nonprofits. The Wyoming Nonprofit Network is a statewide association for charitable nonprofits.
GiveGab/Bonterra is our platform partner and provides the technology and support for WyoGives.org.
Q. When is WyoGives?
WyoGives is held each year in July. This year, the 5th Annual WyoGives is on July 10, 2024, from midnight to 11:59 PM, with Wyoming’s Statehood also being celebrated on the same day!
You cannot pre-schedule your WyoGives gift. If you missed the date, we would like to encourage you to donate to your favorite nonprofit by sending them a check and letting them know that it is part of the WyoGives campaign. Organizations can add these donations to their WyoGives profiles and include these funds in their total raised through July 31, 2024.
Q. Which organizations can participate?
Eligible organizations are 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations headquartered in Wyoming or providing significant on-the-ground services in Wyoming. Participating organizations must be in good standing with the IRS and Wyoming Secretary of State.
Donors can search for participating organizations by name, cause, city, or county.
WyoGives is proud to support thousands of donors as they come together on one day to give to their favorite nonprofits or new causes near to their hearts. While the Wyoming Nonprofit Network verifies the charitable status of every nonprofit that participates in WyoGives, it does not screen or select organizations based on their charitable purposes or missions. Approval of an organization’s participation in WyoGives does not constitute an endorsement of the organization or its mission.
Q. Who can donate during WyoGives ?
Anyone may donate to one or more organizations participating in WyoGives.
Q. What forms of donation payments are accepted on WyoGives.org, and what are the associated fees?
Major credit cards: The minimum credit card donation is $5; there is no maximum. A 2.5% fee is charged on credit card transactions, plus a .30 per transaction fee. Google Chrome is the suggested browser to use. Be sure to enter your correct billing zip code without any extra spaces.
ACH: You can donate directly from your bank account. The minimum donation is $100, and there is a $3 per transaction fee.
Mobile devices: Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Microsoft Pay if enabled on your mobile device. A 2.5% is charged.
In addition to the above payment form fees, there is a 3% GiveGab platform fee, plus 1% is retained by the Wyoming Nonprofit Network for WyoGives program support.
These fees will be deducted from your donation, or you can choose to cover the fees in the check-out process. If you cover the fees, 100% of your online donation will go to the receiving organization(s).
In addition to the above payment options, the Wyoming Nonprofit Network has partnered with the Wyoming Community Foundation and the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole to offer a DAF payment option for their Donor-Advised Funds (DAF) holders. This payment option is only available to donors with DAFs at one of these foundations. The foundations have covered the cost of this payment option, so there are no fees associated with these donations.
All donations are final.
If you prefer not to give online, you can send a check directly to the nonprofit(s). These are what we call "offline" donations. Organizations can add these donations to their WyoGives profiles and include these funds in their total raised through July 31, 2024.
Q. Can I give to more than one organization at a time?
Yes! The Gift Basket on wyogives.org is your very own 'shopping cart'—this allows you to browse around the site and add gifts to your basket without needing to check out immediately. When you're ready to check out, you'll just enter your payment information once and confirm your gifts.
Q. Are donations tax-deductible and will I receive a receipt?
Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law. A receipt will be sent automatically to your email as soon as the donation is made. To claim a donation as a deduction on U.S. taxes, you should retain the donation receipt as an official record.
Q. Who will receive my contact information?
The organization(s) you choose to support will have access to your name and email address. This information is used to send thank you messages, provide the option to receive future notifications, and to notify you of future activities. WyoGives will also have access to your contact information.
You can make your donation anonymous so your name won't be listed. Organizations you donate to will still have access to your name and email address.
Q. Do I need to create an account with GiveGab?
No, you don't need to create an account to make a donation.
Q. How do the prizes work?
Prizes are awarded according to the criteria on the Prizes page. Some prizes are competitive, while others are awarded randomly. We encourage you to check them out to see if you can help your favorite nonprofit win a prize. Offline donations (checks/cash) do not count towards prizes.
Q. How does the Hughes Charitable Foundation's $1,000,000 Incentive Pool work?
The Hughes Charitable Foundation (HCF) is generously providing a $1,000,000 gift again this year! The Foundation determines the criteria for nonprofit participation in the Incentive Pool. Nonprofits must meet these criteria, apply, and be approved. Nonprofits participating in the pool are instructed to include the HCF Incentive Pool in their profiles. If donors contribute to these organizations through WyoGives.org on July 10th, their donations are boosted. The $1,000,000 Incentive Pool will be distributed to qualifying nonprofits based on their online fundraising totals. Each nonprofit's payout will be proportional to the total online amount raised by all HCF participating organizations, with a maximum payout limit per organization of $10,000 or $15,000 (dependent on the location of headquarters).
Offline donations (checks/cash) are not counted in the organization's total for the Incentive Pool.
Q. If I have questions, who do I contact?
Please reach out to the GiveGab Customer Success Team through the blue chat bubble in the bottom right-hand corner of the WyoGives website and they will be able to assist you with almost anything you might need, or get you in touch with the right person! If you have questions prior to July 10th, contact the WyoGives team at info@wynonprofit.org or 307-772-9050.
