Donor FAQ
Q. What is WyoGives?
WyoGives, an initiative of the Wyoming Nonprofit Network, brings the state together as one community to raise money and awareness for Wyoming’s nonprofits on one day each year and one website. WyoGives.org is an easy-to-use platform where individuals can search and donate to nonprofits across the state that are making a difference in our communities every day.
Q. Who is the host of WyoGives and who is Bonterra?
WyoGives is hosted by the Wyoming Nonprofit Network, whose mission is to amplify, cultivate, and advocate for Wyoming’s nonprofits. The Wyoming Nonprofit Network is a statewide association for charitable nonprofits.
Bonterra/GiveGab is the platform partner, providing the technology and support for WyoGives.org.
Q. When is WyoGives?
WyoGives is held each year in July. Save the date for the 8th Annual WyoGives taking place Wednesday, July 14, 2027, from midnight to 11:59 PM. Donors can make online donations on WyoGives.org at any time within these 24 hours. Donations cannot be pre-scheduled.
Q. Which organizations can participate?
Eligible organizations are 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations headquartered in Wyoming or providing significant on-the-ground services in Wyoming. Participating organizations must be in good standing with the IRS and Wyoming Secretary of State.
Donors can search for participating organizations by name, cause, city, or county.
WyoGives is proud to support thousands of donors as they come together on one day to give to their favorite nonprofits or new causes near to their hearts. While the Wyoming Nonprofit Network verifies the charitable status of every nonprofit that participates in WyoGives, it does not screen or select organizations based on their charitable purposes or missions. Approval of an organization’s participation in WyoGives does not constitute an endorsement of the organization or its mission.
Q. Who can donate during WyoGives ?
Anyone may donate to one or more organizations participating in WyoGives.
Q. What forms of donation payments are accepted on WyoGives.org, and what are the associated fees?
Online donations include payment-processing and platform fees, which are standard for online transactions. These fees support the secure processing of donations, the technology used to host WyoGives, and the training, resources, coordination, and assistance that make the statewide program possible.
Donors may choose to cover these fees at checkout. When a donor covers the fees, the amount is added to their donation. If the donor chooses not to cover them, the fees are deducted from the donation before the remaining funds are distributed to the nonprofit. In 2026, donors covered 73.4% of all fees.
Payment-processing fees vary by payment method:
- Credit card: 2.5% plus $0.30 per transaction
- ACH: $3 per transaction
- Mobile payment: 2.5%
Platform and program-support fees:
- Bonterra giving-day platform fee: 2.5%, reduced from 3% in 2025
- WyoGives program-support fee paid to the Wyoming Nonprofit Network: 1%
The program-support fee helps the Wyoming Nonprofit Network coordinate WyoGives and provide participating organizations with training, campaign resources, communications, and individualized support. The combined platform and program support fee is 3.5%, plus the applicable payment processing fee listed above.
Donor-Advised Funds:
In addition to the above payment options, the Wyoming Nonprofit Network has partnered with the Wyoming Community Foundation and the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole (pending) to offer a DAF payment option for their Donor-Advised Funds (DAF) holders. This payment option is only available to donors with DAFs at one of these foundations. The foundations have covered the cost of this payment option, so no fees are associated with these donations. This payment option will appear on the payment screen on WyoGives Day.
If you have a Donor-Advised Fund held elsewhere, such as an investment firm, you can make this arrangement directly with the nonprofit(s) you choose. These contributions are considered "offline donations" because they are not given through the WyoGives.org platform. We encourage these donors to work with their favorite nonprofit(s) prior to WyoGives Day to use their contribution as a match for the nonprofit's WyoGives campaign.
What if I don't want to give online?
If you prefer not to give online, you can send a check directly to the nonprofit(s). These are what we refer to as "offline" donations. Organizations can add these donations to their WyoGives profiles and include these funds in their total raised through the last day in July.
ALL DONATIONS ARE FINAL.
Q. It's WyoGives Day, and I am having trouble with my payment going through on WyoGives.org. What do I do?
This article addresses the most common issues you may encounter when donating. If you are unable to resolve the issue, please reach out to the Bonterra Customer Success Team via the question bubble in the bottom-right corner of the WyoGives website, and they will be able to assist you with almost anything you might need during business hours. If you are unable to resolve the issue through either of these means, contact the WyoGives Team at info@wynonprofit.org.
Q. Can I give to more than one organization at a time?
Yes! The Gift Basket on WyoGives.org is your very own 'shopping cart'—this allows you to browse around the site and add up to 10 gifts to your basket without needing to check out immediately. When you're ready to check out, you'll just enter your payment information once and confirm your gifts.
Q. Are donations tax-deductible and will I receive a receipt?
Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law. A receipt will be sent automatically to your email as soon as the donation is made. To claim a donation as a deduction on U.S. taxes, you should retain the donation receipt as an official record.
Q. Who will receive my contact information?
The organization(s) you choose to support will have access to your name and email address. This information is used to send thank you messages, provide the option to receive future notifications, and to notify you of future activities. WyoGives will also have access to your contact information.
You can make your donation anonymous so your name won't be listed. Organizations you donate to will still have access to your name and email address.
Q. Do I need to create an account with Bonterra?
No, you don't need to create an account to make a donation.
Q. How do the prizes work?
Prizes are awarded according to the criteria determined by the Wyoming Nonprofit Network. Some prizes are competitive, while others are awarded randomly. The Prizes page will be posted as soon as it is finalized. Offline donations (checks/cash) do not count towards prizes.
Q. How do incentive and matching funds work?
In some cases, participating nonprofits recruit a matching sponsor/partner. If they have a match, it is posted on their profile page.
Information on the Hughes Charitable Foundation Incentive Pool can be found here: wyogives.org/info/incentive-pool
Q. What if I am interested in providing an incentive, challenge, or match to all participating nonprofits or a specific group of participating nonprofits?
Email info@wynonprofit.org or call 307-772-9050, and we would be happy to discuss options with you.
Q. What if I want to donate by making an IRA charitable distribution?
You can make this arrangement directly with the nonprofit(s) you choose. These contributions are considered "offline donations" because they are not given through the WyoGives.org platform. We encourage these donors to work with their favorite nonprofit(s) prior to July 15th to use their contribution as a match for the nonprofit's WyoGives campaign.
